Our materials

We don't need to mine gold and diamonds anymore.

Every year, more than 1,000 tons of gold are mined and not used. Every day, 80 kg of diamonds are extracted.

How to create gold and diamonds fine jewellery without direct mining?

Recycled gold from e-waste

Our recycled gold comes from electronic waste: it is used in many components (microprocessors for computers and smartphones).

The recurring purchase of new models by users makes a large part of the global computer equipment regularly obsolete, which most often end up in landfills. Today, companies are specialised in extracting these tiny amounts of gold from our old devices before reselling the metal in the market.

Scéona's pieces are all made of 18kt solid recycled gold.

Lab-grown diamonds creation

By synthesising a seed of carbon in a reactor, we are now able to grow a diamond in a laboratory.

In July 2018, the US Federal Trade Commission declared that “it is no longer accurate to define diamonds as ‘natural,’ when it is now possible to create products that have essentially the same optical, physical, and chemical properties as mined diamonds.”

Cultured diamonds, also known as lab-grown diamonds, are diamonds without the negative effect of the mine.

We even go further!

sustainable jewellery boxes

We partner with a New-Zealand based company that creates sustainable hand-crafted jewellery packaging.

Their boxes are made from a solid piece of beautiful timber, sourced from sustainable forests and managed to ensure that the balance and biodiversity of the surrounding area is maintained.

As usual, we offset the carbon emissions generated by the shipping from New Zealand to Singapore.

handmade, recycled cardboard shipping boxes

Our shipping boxes are handmade

Every package is handmade by Scéona in recycled cardboard. It is custom made for each order, to avoid material waste.
